Long Beach, New York suggestions
Looking to spend a long weekend in Long Beach, NY this month. Any suggestions specifically where in the area we should look? We are a family of 4, with two small children. Want fun in the sun. Maybe a nice playground.

Are you asking for a hotel/motel or just where to go?
I grew up in the area and there used to be nice hotels on the beach, but those were turned first to nursing homes and then condos. I found a listing for a hotel that looks basic, at best. It's called the Jackson. http://new.york.hotelguide.net/data/h101277.htm I found it by getting a map of Long Beach on mapquest.com and then searching for hotels there. It's the only one listed in Long Beach but there are some others nearby in Freeport. If you're for a play area, the beach and boardwalk have a playground near Magnolia st. http://longisland.babyzone.com/linki...7&prid=461 Here's an apt. for rent on the ocean, but it looks very basic and prob. too small for 4. http://longisland.craigslist.org/vac/188087027.html |
Thanks so much. Want to understand where in the area is the best place for a family to be situated so I can then research accomodations in that area.

I lived in the town next to Long Beach and can't understand why you would want to stay there for a weekend. It is not a touristy place

Maybe <i>because</i> it's not a tourist area, she wants to go there. Excellent way to go to the beach inexpensively. But, I'm confused about your comment about best place for family. Long Beach is a fairly small area. There are NO real hotels/motels. For a weekend, your options are very limited.
Here's a condo rental for a 2 bedroom apt. that looks terrific http://www.vrbo.com/61725 Atlantic Beach, just west of Long Beach is another good idea but unlikely you'll find a weekend rental. |
