Lomi Massage on Kauai?

I was reading in one of my travel books about the lomi lomi massage that is offered at several places on Kauai, including Auntie Angeline's Mu'olaulani -- this is where they recommended going.

Anyone have any experience with this spa service? Is Auntie Angeline's the place to go, or is there somewhere else you can recommend?

Thanks!

She's definitely one of the best traditional massage practitioners on the island. I was given a gift certificate for a "salt and clay glow" massage -- your post reminded me to make that appointment!! :-)

We also have Alan Alapa`i, who lives out at the end of the road which winds through the beautiful Hanalei Valley taro patches.

Heading to Kauai on Tuesday the 7th. Where does one get this wonderful massage.

If Auntie Angeline's is still open..absolutely go there. I had heard it had closed. You must make reservations(do it from where you are before you head to Kauai) You pay cash. It is the among most amazing experiences of the senses I've ever had. You steam and are rubbed down with salt and red clay in one hut and massaged in another. I have many massages over the years, some from some great masseuses..nothing compares.

Hi Shar:

The massage is still listed in Kauai Underground, so I'm hoping that it's still open!

You can get the lomi lomi at Auntie Angeline's Mu'olaulani in Anahola -- the phone number is 822-3235. The price listed in the book for a two-hour lomi lomi massage is $125 -- it begins with a sea salt scrub and culminates in a massage given by a team of two. It sounds amazing. I'm certainly going to call ahead of time and book it.

Thanks for the tips, auntiemaria and pam!
