Lombard st area hotels HELP

We will have a car and by all suggestions here, Lombard st would be the most economical area for parking. BUT all the ones I've looked at are not very inspiring. Looking for advice or recommendations somewhere between 200 & 300 dollars per night. Obviously the 'cheaper' the better, priorities would be for clean and safe I guess, luxury not a priority but 'NICE' is.

This will be for 4 or 5 nights in October.

Thanks as always.

The Cow Hollow Motor Inn group is hard to beat. Great rooms, great location, priced right, free parking and high-speed internet.

Depends what you mean by "inspiring". There are no high-end hotels in the Lombard St. corridor - they are al!l motels, some nicer than others. The Cow Hollow group that bookhall mentioned get glowing reviews on this site, but it's still a motel. If you're looking for a marble lobby, drinks served, restaurants on site, room service and the like, the Lombard St. area is not for you. If you're looking for nice, fairly economical, convenient, free parking, close to two great neighborhood eating/shopping streets, then it is!

Hi - We have stayed at the Cow Hollow Inn and Suites twice, but only in the "suites" part. We were 2 couples and stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite. Very nice with full living room and kitchen. We found several places to eat in the neighborhood in various price ranges and felt very safe walking around in the evening. Parking in their underground garage. The price this time was $285 per night plus tax.

You might as well check the Columbus Motor Inn - part of the chain that includes Cow Hollow, and it also has free parking, but is in a much better location.

But if you're willing to spend up to $300, you might be able to find a nicer hotel in a better location for $200-$250, say the financial district, Embarcadero area, Union Square or SOMA, and simply pay $30 to $40 per night for parking. If you don't want to use Priceline, try quickbook, easyclick or hotwire. The area around Embarcadero, in particular, is very accessible by car, IMO; SOMA, too.

I was recently in San Francisco with my whole family. We rented a house from VRBO is it was perfect! A kitchen to cook all our meals, and many of them come with a parking space!! Several under $175, however you may encounter cleaning fees. Most owners are really willing to negotiate due to the economic times.
