Logistics for Jim Caruso's Cast Party

I think that this is the type of entertainment that I'm looking for during my upcoming trip to NYC with my mom, gram and sis. I can't tell from the website, though, if we need to get tix in advance or if it is the type of thing that you just show up for.

Is it easy to get in? Should we arrive early? Would you recommend going to Birland early in the evening and staying for the Cast Party or can we do dinner somewhere else nearby and get there by 9:30 and get in with no problems?

Advice on how to make this happen would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this article! I guess we'll try to get there around 9ish.

KatPen. . . are you planning to go some time soon? Would be interested in hearing your thoughts. We'll be there 12/18.

Kellie,I will be in New York from 31st DEC til 6th JAN, so I will be happy to hear your report if you go. I am meeting other family members so it will be a joint decision if we go there or find some other show on a Monday night. I think it looks great. Anyway, have fun.

By the way, Kellie, did you see my post of 11/18 asking if anyone had been to the Cast party? McLaurie answered "it's great , go". But I am still surprised that neither of us got more input from others.

I've written about Jim Caruso's Cast Party several times here. It's wonderful. I don't have anything new to add though that you won't find by simply typing it in the search function and reading what has already been said here, by me and by others, in fact this is the place I first learned of it. But by all means go.

KatPen. . . I agree - thought I would get more info on how to make sure you get in, get a good seat, other tidbits. Maybe it is just pretty straightforward.

NeoPatrick: I'm sure I've read your posts when I did my search. Maybe you can tell us if the Cast Party starts at 10 pm, do you think that we need to get there earlier than 9:30 to get a decent table? Maybe all of the tables are decent given the set up of the place. I just want to make sure we get in and don't have to plan to stand in line -- particularly if it is a cold December night!

Thanks-
Kellie

I'm pretty sure I made reservations at Birdland for the Cast Party. At least I know I called, but perhaps they said they didn't take reservations, I really don't remember. In any case we went at 10 after seeing a show nearby, and we had a great table almost right up front. It never quite filled up that night, so not sure if that's the usual or not.

Thanks NeoPatrick. I did as you suggested and the search did bring up some more info.

FYI I made reservations for the cast party last night...they required a credit card,,but they did not charge it...it is just a hold. She said to arrive around 9:30 wanted.
