Loews Beverly Hills
Hi All,
A friend and I are headed to Beverly Hills in May. Please tell me your experiences with Loews Beverly Hills. I've been reading horror stories on line. So I booked at the Regent Beverly Wilshire for 3 nights. But we still need a place to stay for just one additional night. Any suggestions? |
How much do you want to spend? Do you want to stay in the Beverly Hills area? Would you be OK with a boutique hotel, or do you want a larger property?
I'd be inclined to try for a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel itself. Money no object? Probably the Peninsula BH or maybe the Four Seasons. The Luxe on Rodeo Drive looks intriguing, though a little stark. A boutique hotel called the Crescent is getting good press. You have lots and lots of choices in the area (and don't forget that Century City has some notable properties as well). |
That Loews Beverly Hills is a recent acquisition, but it seems they've let it go downhill fast. Frankly, the Loews properties in the LA area are a big disappointment. The Santa Monica Loews (a few blocks down the street from my office) is relatively new and big-city bland-- without the beach and ocean at its back door, you might as well be in downtown St. Louis. Clients that I've sent there (when the preferred property, the Fairmont Miramar, is booked) invariably complain about mediocre facilities and indifferent service.
In other cities, the Loews does quite well, but here, they stink. |
What about LeMeridien, Beverly Hills? I haven't stayed there, but it was mentioned in T&L mags. gold list of California hotels, and usually, Travel & Leisures lists are pretty reliable...

I stayed in Loews Beverly Hills in early January and didn't have any problems (room was ready when we got there and was clean, people were friendly/helpful, room service was fine). It is more of a boutique property, and I felt it was sort of next to Beverly Hills (i.e. we drove rather than walked to the Rodeo area). It isn't a great/grand hotel, but it was a good hotel for the money.

I'm curious--what was Loews B.H. before its recent switch? I'm trying to place it and can't.
|
It was the Renaissance on Beverwil at Pico-- technically Beverly Hills, but really more Century City/LA....
|
Any recent reports about this hotel? On tripadvisor it seems to be okay but on Fodors there seems to be complaints.

Loews may be a bit overpriced. Check out the Home Depot. Great Prices, Great People.

We stayed at Maison140 last December -- they have "deals" on the internet and it is in a great location. Very cool place with a super bar (and complimentary wine for guests before you head out to dinner). Very personal service.
