Lodon - Edinburg ,one day trip?

Good morning out of a sunny South Africa.

I am two and 1/2 days in London.
I also want to see Scotland. Can one do a day trip to Scotland by train?
Any suggestions?

A friend of mine did this for work on one ocassion; he took the red eye from London to Waverly Station, though. Technically, it was done within a 24-hr period AKA a day.

Anyway, yes, you'll likely get more help if posting in the Europe forum.

You could fly to Edinburg and cut down a little on the travel time, but you won;t have seen much of Scotland in that short time. Besides, you can't see London in 10 days.

Spending a half day or more of only 2 1/2 days in the UK doing additional travel doesn't work very well.

It would be a long day and i advise staying over if you intend going to Scotland. The train ride would be at least 5 hours from London. I believe you can go from Euston or Kings Cross depending on your final destination. Try out www.londonvacationguide.com as an additional resourse.

I too am going to London!

There is a tour offered out of London by Golden Tours to Edinburgh. It is a 15 hour ordeal. Here is the website:

Ditto on the post your question on the Europe message board. You'll get more responses.
