Lodgings Rochester NH

I will be in Rochester New Hampshire from June 6 to June 9 and would like a nice place to stay. I have found some inns/hotel/motels listed, but most of them do not have web sites and I can't find any reviews on them. If anyone is familiar with this area you help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nikki

Rochester is a small kind of bluecollar area near Portsmouth and Dover; I'm not surprised you can't find anything. I'd look in Portsmouth; it not a long ride to Rochester from there; you might also look in Durham. Check the yankee magazine website (www.newengland.com) for their B&B finder (if you like B&Bs).
(Rochester has a great hospital.)

Try Wolfboro,NH just a short drive north and on the big lake.

In Rochester, there are only B&B's - Governor's Inn, Greenwood Inn, Agnes Pease House are some of them - and small motor inns - Route 125, Rochester, Riviera, etc. I am not personally familiar with any of these places. I think the nearest chain is Days Inn nine miles southeast in Dover. When visiting the area, we always stay at the New England Conference Center, which is a very nice hotel with a wonderful restaurant and is actually at the edge of the University of New Hampshire campus (n a beautiful wooded setting) in Durham. It's about 16 miles from Rochester. Depending upon the purpose of your visit, you might want to consider staying in Portsmouth (20 miles), a much larger town (beautiful seaport village!) with lots and lots of lodging choices and loads of shopping, dining and nightlife. Wolfeboro is gorgeous and a lovely place to stay. It's almost 30 miles from Rochester, though, on country roads.

I live in Rochester and your best bet (your only bet) is the Governors Inn - a very nice B&B. The other hotels in town are a little shady (in my opinion).

Within 30 minutes...
Dover-Days Inn
Durham-New England Center
Portsmouth-many options...you should be able to find more info online.

Good luck.
