Lodging on I-40 b/w Ok City and Amarillo

Could someone recommend a safe and clean roadside hotel/motel between Oklahoma City and Amarillo (hopefully closer to Amarillo) along I-40 for a woman travelling alone? I have seen a lot of options on Orbitz and Travelocity, room rates ranging from $40 (which kind of scares me) to $98. Or you can just tell me which ones to avoid. Thanks y'all.

The Comfort Inn in Erick is okay, and the Best Western in Shamrock a bit nicer.

The Econo Lodges and Travelodges on that route are generally clean and okay, the biggest problem with $40 motels is usually the other guests.

I saw a show once that it is safest to find a place with your room door inside the hotel not on the outside where bad guys see you coming and going alone.

The Holiday Inn in Elk City, Oklahoma is a great place to stay, and it includes a good breakfast. It's owned by some local residents who are really hands on and care about their customers.
