Lodging on Blue Ridge Parkway

Does anyone know of cabins, motels, cottages, etc. right on the Parkway with great views around the 300 mile marker?

There are only four places where you can stay actually on the Parkway: Peaks of Otter in Virginia (I love it there): MP 86, Bluffs Lodge in NC (haven't stayed there): MP 241, Mt. Pisgah in NC (also good): MP 408, and Rocky Knob Cabins in VA: MP 174 - I stayed there once and found it a bit too basic.

See http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/v.php?pg=70 for links.

As mentioned above there are no "right on the Parkway" options but you will be very near Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock. Hop off and spend some time in Blowing Rock. Several excellent lodging choices and great restaurants. Enjoy your visit.

Plenty of great places just off the Parkway. As has been said, the ones ON the Parkway are very basic--and limited in amenities.

"the ones ON the Parkway are very basic--and limited in amenities." - no, I didn't say that. The cabins are indeed basic, and I wouldn't stay there again, but the lodges at Pisgah and Peaks of Otter are fine - I've stayed at Pisgah twice and Peaks many times, and would be happy to go back. Both have comfortable rooms and good although not gourmet restaurants. I would imagine the Doughton Park property is similar.

I didn't say you did. Well, maybe you could construe it that way. I have been to the Pisgah Lodge, and I think it is pretty "basic"/modular motel. Certainly not posh, nor does it need to be. They are nice, clean, and "basic". And there is one restaurant to eat at. That is what I mean.

LOts of cabins on vrbo in close proximity to the Parkway, that would be where I would look. Many State Parks also have cabins available.
