lodging on Big Island
 

Hello all.

It's been a while since I've posted. I decided a few hours ago that I want to head to the Big Island in a few weeks. Looking to make all of the arrangements within the next 72 hours. I've stayed on Oahu, Maui, and cruised the islands last year. Want to spend some time just relaxing with no agenda on the Big Island. Thinking about a timeshare unless I find a hotel for $100 a night...((A))

What reputable websites do you recommend I check for timeshares? This will be new for me as I typically stay in hotels.

Thanks beth. I will check out redweek. Man, there are soooo many condos and timeshares to choose from. Wow, not as easy as I thought! I hope to make a decision in the next 48 hours.

FWIW, we stayed one time at the Waikoloa Vistas or Vistas Waikoloa....something like that.

Was very nice, but well over 100.00 per night though.

Actually, I have found several in that area anywhere from $85-$150 per night and $599-$699 per week. I have requested addl info on several and waiting to hear back. Hoping I may find a good deal since it is last minute and they have no renters. Will see what happens.

You didn't mention what part of the Big Island you wanted to stay in.

Several years ago, we stayed at Aloha Amauloa Condo. It was about 20 minutes outside of Hilo in a country setting. We would stay there again in a heart beat.

Check out www.halekonakai.com or www.sunquest-hawaii.com. I've stayed at Hale Kona Kai because a friend had stayed there & we both loved it!

Vista Waikoloa is nice, units have 2 bedrooms, 2 or 2.5 baths, kitchen, laundry and air conditioning. Check vrbo.com for rates.

I also use vrbo.com. Use the search function for your criteria--"kona oceanfront" etc. It helps to narrow it down. . .just a suggestion.
