Lodging NEAR Yellowstone and Grand Teton
A year ago we began planning a trip to Yellowstone/GTNP during the '09 summer. That trip got shelved and we are now looking to do it this summer.
We want to be able to visit both parks but we also want have the Western ranch experience with good food! We are also looking for a ranch with cabins because we need two bedrooms for our family. Price doesn't matter - we just need some guidance because this is our first trip to that part of the country.
We've looked into both the Triangle X Ranch and Gros Ventre River Ranch. We were thinking that if we stayed at either of these lodges we could spend a few days at the park and a few days at the ranch, riding, fishing, and relaxing.
Looking for some guidance on all of this. Thanks.

If you're like me and prefer the unusual, you might wish to book a stay at A Teton Tree House. Located in Wilson near the southern entrance to the Grand Teton NP, 60 miles south of Yellowstone, and 10 minutes from the tourist town of Jackson, it affords easy access to all the best in the area. The owners are great with recommendations, the Tree House is set on a hillside and offers peace and quiet. Pricey but worth it.

Check out Three Bear Lodge in West Yellowstone. Great Location for both YNP & GTNP.
The lodge is amazing and recently (last year) rebuilt from the ground up after a fire. Their tel # is 406-646-7353.

Just know that it is a LONG drive into Yellowstone before you reach the usual stops. Then, it is even much further around the loops to see the rest of the park. I'd highly recommend staying part of your time inside Yellowstone.
