Lodging locations in Miami for an overnight visit

Hi everyone

I am going to spend a week with my folks at Xmas in Florida.

I might take a day/night to go check out Miami. I haven't been since I was a little girl and I understand it has a thriving art scene, great street murals, good food, nightlife, etc.

So where would be the best "bang for the buck" location to choose to stay? I don't want and won't have time to commute into anything interesting, I'd want to go right to the best/most fun area and spend my day-and-a-half plus night, there. Everything walkable...

Thank you!

Look at South Beach Miami on Ocean Drive and Collins... prices vary by location and how swanky the hotel is... but everything is walkable, you won't need a car, and shopping, food, clubs, and beach are all there...

Make sure the hotel removes the parking fee if you don't have a car... it can be very pricey...

Thank you Gary.

I will have a car but I won't have time to foof around if I've only got 30-36 hours in town. I would park it and walk to things.

I'll check it out!

Hi again

For point of reference - do you mean near Lummus Park?

Thanks

Anywhere along Ocean Dr is great... Lummus park is center of the strip, Collins park is at the farthest north end of where walking is easiest... between the two is ideal... Lincoln Dr is shopping, dining and people...

We have stayed at Royal Palm, Loews, Surfcomber, all are on the beach at the north end of Ocean on Collins... great area...

Some of the hotels are very pricey, so beware of room rates, parking fees, and resort fees added on...
