lodging in Williamettte wine region

Any suggestions for centrally located, reasonable lodging around the Williamette wine country in October?

I'm not sure what you might mean by reasonable, but I can give you a few short suggestions. There is a Red Lion Inn in McMinnville that would certainly be affordable with all of the comfortable amenities and if you will be spending most of the time away from your accommodations, do this.
However, we spent a little more than we should have but will not regret our stay at The Black Walnut Inn in Dundee.

If you want the real feel of wine country, it is an honest-to-God Tuscan-like villa just built in a new vineyard. It IS a bed & breakfast, but is huge - and the feel is more like an inn instead of the sometimes uncomfortable b&bs. Check out the website. Beautiful rooms...we did stay in one of the higher priced suites, but had the opportunity to peek at the others and all were awesome. No TV - if that's an issue. A good book, a balcony, and a great glass of vino from a local winery is all you need. Did I mention the sunset & sunrise?

SWEET,
This is exactly the kind of information I was hoping to get: I am on their link; like right now.....
Thank you!!!!!!

Wow, Ali, what a beautiful place! Thanks from me too, we have just moved to Portland and we are planning a wine tasting weekend.

Glad to be of help! This place is very newly built...hence, very little advertising. I'm not really sure how I found it, but am glad we did.
I forgot to mention that our balcony was facing Mount Hood in the distance. It was not real clear those days, but you could still see it. We took a walk into the vineyards in the late afternoon with a glass of pinot and took some great pictures.
The owners have painstakingly worked on the authentic European feel - with high ceilings, warm colors, Italian tilework, antiques, more-than-comfy bedding. It was hard to leave the place even for a few hours - but there was WINE TO TASTE!!
Their son is a trained chef and breakfast is simple, but good. Since I am on the food thing - make sure that you do a lunch or dinner at Dundee Bistro. Great food & atmosphere.
Enjoy! I'll be anxious to hear from you guys afterwards!
Our recent trip to WA/OR is still very
clear in my mind...I'll be glad to help - from a tourist's point of view.

Yes, Dundee Bistro is very nice. We had a great lunch there this summer. A glass of Ponzi wine was perfect with our meal. You can walk right over to the tasting room after lunch to taste the Ponzi wine. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))
