Lodging in Seattle

We will be in Seattle for 2 days, Sept 8 and 9th. The Hyatt was full --what do your Fodorits think of the W Hotel - or other suggestions?? Also--what highlights are not to be missed in 2 short days? We are going over to the San Juans on the 10th for 2 last days. Thanks

Both The Alexis and The Inn at The Market are in great locations and consistently get great reviews.

As for what to see and do...type in Seattle in the search box above and you will see LOTS of recent Q's and replies. And you can also click on DESTINATIONS at the top of the page and see Fodor's recommendations, which are great too.

Hope this helps...

The Seattle Waterfront Marriott is beautiful. It is right by the elevator that will bring you to Pike Place Market.

How does the Inn at Harbor Steps rate? We are having a family reunion this fall and have booked rooms at this Inn. Is this a good choice?

We stayed at Inn at Harbor Steps last month and really liked it, especially for its location; literally steps down to the waterfront, a few blocks from Pike Place Market in one direction, and a half dozen from Pioneer Square in the other. Rooms are fairly generic, but nicely appointed and larger than average. We'd stay there again without hesitation.

You should know, though, that the hotel occupies a couple of the lower floors of a high-rise condominium tower, so the lobby area is pretty minimalist. I believe all rooms overlook Post Alley, which is actually kind of nice because it's quiet. Just don't expect a view.

If you have specific questions, ask away.

What type of room would you suggest and on which floor, I believe there are only 2 floors.

I also just found out about the Hotel 1000, would you suggest this hotel over the Inn at Harbor

Hotel 1000 is new, I haven't heard from anyone who's stayed there yet.

I doubt there's much difference between rooms at Inn at Harbor Steps. We stayed in two, with a trip to Victoria sandwiched between. Though on separate floors, they were almost exactly the same. It shouldn't matter which floor, either. Both are below the lobby level, but because of the hill, above Post Alley and/or the garden area.
