Lodging in Raton, NM
 

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, inexpensive place to spend the night in Raton? It's just an overnighter, but I'd like to get the most bang for my buck.

Just curious, why Raton? The only reason I know about this place is because it was where my husband and son got on and off the train going to the Philmont Scout Ranch nearby.

Raton is just a good stopping point for us on the way to Yellowstone. My memories of it are from childhood when we went to the horse races in the summer.

You must be driving from somewhere in Texas. We are in northeast Texas and Raton is a good days drive for us to get us into the Rockies.

I'd try Priceline. Check Biddingfortravel.com to see what people are getting. .I got Holiday Inn in Amarillo, TX (similar size town) for $35 and the room was fine.

Priceline doesn't seem to deal in smaller locales. I thought someone might chime in with a suggestion.

We are coming from Dallas-- a good 500- plus miles.
