Lodging in Point Reyes, California

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to stay in Point Reyes that's nestled in the wilderness. I'm looking for something more like a cabin rather than these quaint bed and breakfast cottages with doilies and such...

Not sure if they have anything in Pt. Reyes but I use www.sonomacoast.com & vrbo.com, primarily.

Check out seamistcottage.com
We have stayed here twice. One side has two bedrooms the other is a studio with kitchen. I prefer the studio side.
The cottage is right on Tomales Bay in the town of Marshall which is on the eastern shore of the bay. It is an easy drive then to various parts of the park.

No dollies,promise.

Here are a couple of places that I have bookmarked. If I ever get my sorry okole up there it would be nice to stay in either of these.

No doilies allowed.

One thing to know--Point Reyes isn't wilderness. This is historic dairy farming country. It's quite beautiful but you aren't going to find a cabin in the "wilderness."

Don't know if it's too late to add to this thread, but we have a great vacation rental property on Inverness Ridge. Not wilderness exactly but mature forest, tons of wildlife and great views of the ridge and bay. We're at http://pointreyesvacationrental.com, please have a look.

We stayed here www.roundstonefarm.com on our honeymoon and loved it. Each room has a unique view of the area.

I stayed at the Point Reyes Hostel ages ago, and it is in a lovely place. Probably not what you are looking for, but it's good to know the range of options.

The Pt Reyes Vacation Rental mentioned by scono looks very good. The location is good and the price is right.

PamSF I'm surprised that you would promote something that violates the no advertising rule. Or did you not notice it was an ad?

This is an old thread -- scono registered yesterday just to top it and post a link to his place.

(scono -- Welcome to Fodors. But advertising is definitely NOT allowed on Fodors. So if you want to stick around and contribute info about the Marin coast/etc you'll be happy here. But break the rules and the editors will nuke your screen name)
