Lodging in Page AZ - Any suggestions / advice
Hi
We are going to be staying in Page, Arizona for two nights. When I checked Tripadvisor none of the options sound that great.
Do any Fodorites have first hand experiences - good, bad or indifferent - with any of the Page hotels?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide

Have stayed in several Page motels/hotels, the Marriott is fine (surely the best I've stayed at in Page), the motel at the Wahweap Marina was fine, Holiday Inn Express was pretty good (half-star below the Marriott) ... there are some cheaper places (I think three Best Westerns) that are OK, then budget chains like Comfort Inn and Motel 6 that are not as comfortable but OK for the price, and various older non-chain motels.
Page isn't a very fancy place and if the Marriott isn't good enough then you're probably in the wrong town anyway.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning to book in at the Marriot Courtyard until I saw the "Insects in the Bed" warning on Tripadvisor from January 2008. Since I did think the Courtyard was the top of the heap in Page, I got a little concerned about the rest of Page.
Perhaps the Holiday Inn Express is my best option.
Thanks again

If it makes any difference, HI Express is within walking distance to Fiesta Mexicana which 1s a really good mexican restaurant and The Dam Bar and Grill which is a nice sports bar with a pretty good bar menu. The hotel was very clean with comfortable beds which is all that really mattered to me.

Hi Pamela,
I assume the 'insects in the bed' at Marriott are some kind of isolated anomaly, surely not something we'd expect and if this happens just contact the desk and get another room. We've stayed there several times and never seen any kind of problem, and would not expect insects even in the low end chains like Motel 6. Page is very dry and there aren't many bugs there.
One thing in favor of the HIExpress is that breakfast is included in the room price. The views and location are better at the Marriott but HIE is nice enough too, and somewhat cheaper. I think there's also a Super 8 with breakfast included.
Basically the chain motels in Page(from Marriott to Motel 6) have similar quality standards as the same chains have elsewhere.

I read that review as well and immediately understood bedbugs. If it is true, it has nothing to do with the climate but instead came on previous travelers' luggage, and bedbugs are extremely hard to eliminate. SInce bedbugs are a growing problem (in NYC we have constant reports in the press about bedbugs in the best of residences), I wonder if other travelers have made decisions about where to stay based on reports of bedbugs?

We stayed at the Courtyard in June 2007 and loved it. I'm usually a C-S-C (clean, safe, convenient) guy but the Marriott will be my first choice the next time I'm in Page. I liked the way it was laid out and the staff was friendly.
The weird part was I got the best deal from a British travel website -
