Lodging for Washington DC
 

We are coming to Washington DC the first week of April for the Cherry Blossom festival. We plan to stay in Camp Springs MD at 4950 Mercedes Blvd., Camp Springs MD 20746,

We will be taking the Metrorail into DC each day.

Please comment on the location of the hotel. Also, does anyone know how close the hotel is to the Metro station. Is it a safe area to be walking from hotel to station?

According to Google Maps, the hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Metro station, but I'll guess there is a shuttle to and from the Metro. The area doesn't offer much by way of restaurants and shopping--you may want to keep that in mind. I wouldn't consider the area unsafe; it will probably be pretty empty outside of the morning and evening rush hours, though.

Depending on where you want to go in D.C., it will take around 25 minutes (Metro Center) to 35 minutes (Smithsonian) to get there from the Branch Aveune Metro Station. You can use the Trip Planner feature on the Metro website to determine travel times, routes and fares: www.wmata.com

Will hotel drive you to metro? That would be a great help to you.

Easy drive from there to DC as well if you do decide to drive in. I like the Suitland Parkway very much. Just try to avoid rush hour traffic if you do drive.

Tdudette, I checked with the hotel and they do have shuttle service so that will be very handy. Also, if we decide to drive in, is it pretty difficult to find parking?

If you drive in (which I wouldn't recommend), plan to park in a parking garage. Parking on the street will be hard to find and the parking regulations are not only confusing, but STRICTLY enforced.
