Lodging convenient to Burlington Vermont airport
 

I am looking for lodging for one night with easy access to the Burlington airport. I am finding virtually every hotel/inn I have contacted in Burlington is booked. Can you recommend any nice hotels or inns which have rooms with two beds in nearby towns? We would like something with a nice view and good comfort, price is not a big issue for us.

Did you try the Hilton in downtown Burlington? It has good views of Lake Champlain. A lot of Burlington hotels are out of the downtown/lakeside area.

The Inn at Shelburne Farms is in an old Webb (Vanderbuilt family summer home in a beautiful location. Really not too far from the airport but south of the city so probably not in the right direction for you (I assume you are asking about this because you are flying into Burlington for your trip to Quebec City)

From my market it was about $400 per person cheaper to fly to Burlington and rent a car than to fly into either Montreal or Quebec City. I had seen many biking trips advertised out of Burlington so I guessed the ride would be scenic. I would welcome any suggestions you have to be sure we hit the high spots and am particularly open to hearing about a great place to lunch on the way up. We decided to return to Burlington for one night so we didn't risk a delay at the border crossing. I eventually found a vacancy at the Residence Inn near the airport. Is that choice sound? I would not mind being waterfront, but the property with the best reviews (Courtyard by Marriott) had no rooms with two beds and the king rooms were going for $300! That frankly surprised me. I will check into the Inn at Shelburne Farms, have read about it and it does look beautiful.
I just have to assume there is something special going on in town that weekend, though the events calendar only lists a Y lake swim....that doesn't sound like it would be a huge draw.
I would appreciate any suggestions you have.

I think the Residence Inn should be fine. We live so close to Burlington we don't stay over there.

We also tend to drive through to Montreal w/o stopping for lunch so I hope others can help with suggestions. One possible route is through the Champlain Islands. I know the North Hero House and the Blue Paddle in South Hero are good for dinner but am not sure whether they are open for lunch other than weekend brunches.

If you go up to Montreal via I-89 to Rte 133 in Canada, there is a Swiss fondue restaurant in Pike's River. I think it is called La Suisse.

We are planning to go to Quebec City and skip Montreal on this trip. I did price airfare to both cities and was surprised to learn I could do the trip significantly cheaper by flying into Burlington.
I did check into the Shelburne Farms and they have a two night minimum, but if we have time we might go by there. I have heard a good deal about it.

That's ashame as it's a very nice place. I'm surprised they have a 2 night minimum. Last year we stayed there for 2 nights before driving to New Hampshire. We returned for 1 night before flying home the next day. I would suggest calling them.
