Lodging between Vegas and Baker, Nevada???

We are going tent-camping in Great Basin National Park. We will fly into La Vegas and are scheduled to arrive around 4:00PM. I was thinking we would get our grocery supplies then drive for a bit and sleep in a hotel somewhere along the way. Now that I'm really looking at a map, it appears there really isn't much between Vegas and Great Basin for lodging options.

I'm concerned that I might not get a camping spot, if we left early the next morning, putting us at the park around Noon or a bit after. We would be arriving on a Friday. The website says that campsites fill up on weekends occasionally. I'm not for sure if it will make a difference if we arrive at 8:00AM or 1:00PM

So, any lodging suggestions between Vegas and Baker or Ely?

TripAdvisor lists three motels in Caliente, NV, which is about mid way between the LV airport and Big Basin: Midway Motel, Shady Motel, and Rainbow Canyon Motel. My choice would be Midway.

I wasn't finding much. Just the names of those places sound sketchy. Especially The Shady Motel. LOL.

Midway gets good reviews, but the most recent photo outside looks a little scary.

I might just stay in North LV. I was just trying to cut down on the time on the road the next day.

I could fly into Salt Lake instead of Vegas, but the airline times aren't very good there. Plus into Vegas is non-stop for me.

Ely, NV is a little out of the way but it's nice size city and will probably have the best lodging. There is even a KOA that has camping cabins in Ely. Ely will also put you closest to Great Basin. There's not to much to the town of Baker!

It takes only 20 minutes more driving time to get to Baker by way of St. George and Cedar City Utah.
You might better go that way instead of through the barren desert.

Thanks everyone. I had thought of going through Cedar City. It might depend on if my plane is on time as to where I end up at. Could make a couple of reservations that I can cancel.
