Lodging between Elk City, OK & Shamrock, TX

Will be making a 1 night stop somewhere between Elk City, OK and Shamrock, Tx. Any motel recommendations for a comfortable night sleep? TripAdvisor reviews for Elk City motels were not very good. Anyone stayed at any of the motels in Erick, OK?

You won't find anything particularly nice in those places, and Elk City will give you the most choices. I stayed there once, but can't remember which motel. It's one of those just off I-40.

Thanks rrkan. Will try to find a decent 2 star in Erick or Shamrock. Maybe the Comfort Inn or Best Western Shamrock Inn. I see they have a Sleep Inn & Suites, but have never stayed at a Sleep Inn so not sure what they are like. There's a Holiday Inn in Elk City. Maybe I should just forget about the reveiws on TripAdvisor and head over to Priceline and take what I get!

usto--I've stayed in a Sleep Inn and, particularly if it's newer and a suite, should be very nice. They are part of the Choice Hotel group--isn't the Comfort Inn, also? They are similar.

For overnight stays on roadtrips, I don't prebook hotels. At most I can save using Priceline is $20-30 for a 2* like this. But it cuts down on my flexibility. I like to stop when I feel like it, and then I just check out the billboards to see what motels may be available in the towns ahead.

Then when I get off the freeway, I head to the newer, nicer offerings. Regardless of the brand.
