Lodging at Snowbird/Alta?
 

I think we've been swayed to head to Snowbird/Alta for a group ski trip over Park City :) We have a group of 8 adult skiers heading there this winter but are unsure of lodging options. We are looking to shuttle from/to airport and not renting any cars so we need to be able to get to the slopes either by foot, skiing or resort shuttle. Our other requirements include bedroom for each couple, hot tub and kitchen.

Any recommendations welcome and much appreciated as this'll be our first time to Snowbird/Alta.

We generally stay at one of the Snowbird properties, but I don't know if the Iron Blosam has condos large enough for you. (It's worth checking on the website). You could get 3 +1 connecting units at the Cliff Club, and have all separate studios with bath, small kitchen in each, and at least 2 hottubs. But that would be pretty pricy. I haven't used this site myself, but they do list some suitably-sized units. You'd want to be sure that whatever you choose around Alta is on the shuttle route, or you'll be walking a lot. The Snowbird properties are all pretty much right at the lifts.

Thanks for the tips! We're not able to find as many lodging options around this area as Park City so we're exploring that area as well now....

language_buddy---I don't know if you saw the comment on your other thread, but Park City is very crowded in mid to late January with the Sundance Film Festival. In 2007 it will run from Jan. 18 to the 28th. The whole town fills up.

A great place to stay is Powder Ridge Condos, the only thing is you probably should rent at least one car. You can check out the condos at http://altacondo.home.att.net

If you really want no car, stay at Snowbird. You could get two 2-bedroom condos and live in luxury at the Cliff Club at Snowbird. You could all sleep in one 2-bedroom, because they are 3 rooms that sleep up to 10, but if you want 4 rooms, you need to get at least a 2-bedroom and a Studio. Can you tell me the difference between staying in the two areas? We (2 adults and 2 teens) aren't looking for nightlife, but want to be able to go out for a nice dinner at night before crashing and watching some DVD's? Would you stay in Alta or Snowbird for this?

The 2 areas are linked on the slopes and less than 2 miles separates the bases. If you have a car, any of the restaurants at either resort are less than 5 minutes away. If you won't have a car, stay at Snowbird where everything is in walking distance. Both the Cliff Club and the Iron Blosam are great places to stay and you can get great deals through www.snowbirdcondo.net

We stayed at the Mariott property, and the bus comes round each 1/2 hour to take you to the slopes. A short walk to town...nice breakfast too.
