Apparenty, due to Sept 11, there is no baggage checking service at Penn Station. And there have not been lockers for years (from what I understand).

Any hotel should be able to hold your bags. They may charge a dollar or two for the privilege, and while annoying, it's still worth it.

I understand that there are lockers in the Port Authority Greyhound terminal (625 Eighth Ave at 40th-41st street) or in the Hotel Wolcott (4 West 31st St at Fifth Ave)

I disagree with James's point that "Any hotel should be able to hold your bags". I would hope that in the interest of security, a hotel will not just hold onto the baggage of a random person (as opposed to a guest of that hotel)--I'm sure some of you will think that's naive of me and disagree with me, but I'd say just don't assume that any hotel will of course take your baggage. The baggage storage areas of some hotels is just a linen closet somewhere, so they actually don't have a huge amount of space either in some cases

I think they still hold luggage for those with an Amtrak ticket. If hotel option will not work, maybe you could buy tix to Newark, but not use it, if the game is worth that expense.

If still looking for a hotel check out Southgate Towers, a suite hotel. It is one block from MSG. Telephome number is (800) ME-SUITE

I walk into reputable hotel closest to my final departure point, keep a couple $'s visible in my hand and ask the nearest bellhop if I can leave my bage for a few hours, mentioning that I "already checked out" (generally the truth although it may have been from a different hotel). This has always worked for me in the past. Have not tried it in NYC post 9/11 but I'm guessing that it's still a practical method to solving this problem. By the way.... the previous poster is correct that there is still a baggage check at Penn if you have a vaild Amtrak ticket but in addition to the ticket it's $1 or $2 per bag. Better off to just use a hotel. In addition to th

In addition to the Southgate, the Ramada New Yorker (8th and 34th) and the Hotel Pennsylvania (7th across from Penn Station) are likely places to leave a bag short-term.
