Location Of "Charmed" House In San Francisco?

A friend of mine will be in San Francisco this week. He's a big TV buff and is a fan of the show "Charmed". He would like to see the house used as the establishing shot of the home of the show's main characters, but doesn't know the location. Does anyone here have any idea where it's located?

Charmed is not filmed in SF and only uses stock overhead shots of SF in its credits.

Love the show - and as you've found out - it's so not really San Francisco.

This does remind me of a funny story. I was also a big fan of Party of 5 when it was on. I tried to get my partner hooked so he'd watch it with me. Half-way through the episode we watched he went on and on about how NOT San Francisco any of th exterior shots were.

Then there was an establishing shot of the city that pulled back - to the corner of our block! There are great views up the hill from us - and the shot pulled back to reveal two characters doing a scene of dialog on our corner!

Well, it was very cool at the time. Awesome views from the trails at Buena Vista Park which is across the street from where the scene was shot.

Oh, I know that most television shows are not filmed where they are set. I think that my friend is working on the assumption that the house in establishing shots is actually a San Francisco house.

Smallville is the show that cracks me up. Set in Kansas, yet filmed in British Columbia. Ah, those beautiful Kansas mountains. :)

Kinda reminds me of an interesting scene a few years ago in front of a lovely little Craftsman house, two blocks from my home. A film crew was setting up some exterior scenes for a homey winter's day in some New England hamlet.

It was July. The actual location was Long Beach, California. It was conservatively 85 degrees that day. You can imagine how quickly they were working with the melting fake snow and the overheated actors.

Ahhh, the magic of the movies...! And TV. As everyone must have heard by now, a very large percentage of exterior shots of "CSI: Miami" are shot here in California. Since the beaches out here are nothing like in Florida, it makes for some odd continuity lapses. A note to the producers: Sand and water don't magically turn shoreline into South Beach....

Party of 5 shot inside our friends house in North Oakland! (not SF but closer than LA).

By the way, there are bus tours "movie tours" in San Francisco now - we didn't have them when Kostroma posted.
