Right on, thanks for the descriptions. I didn't see the Andrew Zimmern "Bizarre Foods" in Minnesota, but I guess even he hated lutefisk. I'll stay away!
I'm aiming for Matt's Bar, Chino Latino and/or 112. With some barhopping and general strolling mixed in. |

Yes, stay away from the Lutefisk! I tried it once to gain initiation into my husband's family...think hot fish-flavored jello topped with melted butter. I head to the mashed potatoes and swedish meatballs now that they have accepted me into the clan. :) Your plans sound good. I would be happy to look at your Mapquest route. Just FYI; if you are going to do the Juicy Lucy, two places claim to have invented it; Matt's Bar AND the 5-8 Club (an old speakeasy near the MSP airport. You might need to try both! I have only had a 5-8 Club burger. I can't say that I have tried many MSP burgers...after living in a small town for 25 years, I am still more interested in ethnic/foodie spots I could't get to very often. My e-mail address is [email protected] |
I have had a Juicy Lucy at both Matt's and the 5-8 Club and they are both good, but think I prefer the one at 5-8 Club. I agree, try both and see which one you prefer. I also love to go to Convention Grill in Edina for a burger, fries and a real shake. YUM!!

One question...why do some places call it the Jucy Lucy (no i in Jucy) and others the Juicy Lucy?
|
It was spelled wrong on the signboard once and the tradition was born.

The 112 Eatery feels like a neighborhood type of place, but the food is exceptional. You can get an entree starting at about $18.00.
