lobster meals
we will be driving the coast of CT, RI, MASS, and Maine up to about Portland. i'm looking for recommendations for good lobster meals. thank you for your help.

I'd like to know this one also.

In Kittery, Maine. The lobster pier at chaucy creek. You walk down a ramp and sit at the creeks edge and pick your own lobster. You can bring wine or beer. Some people bring salads, etc. I bring goat cheese, olives bread.

For fun with your lobster, try Foster's Downeast Clambake in York, Maine. Great hokey entertainment (even a sing-along or two) and the full authentic "clambake" menu. Call ahead for a reservation and to be sure you'll be there for "showtime." Further up in Ogunquit on Rt. 1 is the Lobster Pound. Both of these are very casual, and seating is in a non-airconditioned, screened in, dining hall. For the best ocean view in a nicer restaurant, go to the Oar Weed on Perkins Cove in Ogunquit. Finally, I'd recommend Mabel's in Kennebunkport for both fried seafood and lobster dinners. It is excellent, but tiny, so call ahead for reservations. Enjoy! (I've found the lobsters to be particularly excellent this year!)

I agree with Beth. The Lobster Pound was great for lobster. Very casual is what I recall, although I haven't been there for a while. <BR>You can also stop in Glocester, MA right on the ocean. The fishermen come into the docks and the restaurants on the docks have the freshest fish (and lobsters!).

I still have not gotten over the fact that McDonalds has Lobster Roll on the menu in this area. I had the best lobster I had ever had in Oqunquit. It was on the pier.
