If you want a HUGE lobster...check out The Palm. Second Ave., between 44th and 45th St. 212 687-2953

The Palm and the Palm II are located right across the street from each other on Second Ave..

I'd go to Docks, the BEST seafood in town IMHO, it's on 40th and 3rd Ave.

If you want some history, you might try the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station, it was rennovated and reopened not long ago.

HAPPY 40th!!!!

10 years ago Docks might have been the best seafood in town, today I'm not even sure it would be in the top 5.

Blue Water Grill in Union Square has far and away eclisped Docks both in terms of food and ambiance.

For overall fantastic seafood with several lobster dishes (although I don't recall that either serve your basic steamed lobster) Le Bernardin and Oceana are not only among the top seafood, but amomg restaurants in the city.

Make that "among the top restaurants in the city." I should add that Blue Water Grill does a great lobster.

Currently several restaurants in the "restaurant associates" group are doing a lobster special -- after 5 PM, $25 for a two pound lobster. These restaurants are Brasserie, Brasserie 8 1/2, Cafe Centro, and Tropica.
You can look at these restaurants and also find a lot of deals at them on their website: www.restaurantassociates.com

You can also join their free club and get numerous special deals, including a $50 certificate good on your birthday or up to two months afterwards at any of their restaurants.

Sorry, I didn't notice in your title that you said "lunch".

I had a spectacular lobster salad two weeks ago at La Brasserie (the one below the Four Seasons). They also had a great lobster on the lunch menu.

I also suggest Sparks or the Palm. Any of the old time steakhouses will offer a monster lobster, not just a chicken lobster. The lobster at Smith and Wollensky in South Beach is outstanding but I can't speak to NYC's even though this is their flagship restaurant. LMF
