Lobster Lobster Lobster

Going to Boston next weekend to catch a couple Sox games. Looking for recommendations on the best place for a lobster dinner, boiled or steamed. Can be casual or a nicer place, but I'd like to not feel like I'm getting ripped off.

I'd also like to take home some live lobsters to Miami, so if you know of a good market that will pack to travel, please suggest. I've looked at Yankee Lobster, so that's a possibility, but its location isn't the most convenient.

We're staying in the South End and won't have a car, but are very familiar with the T.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yankee Lobster is a good choice, clean and at a fairly reasonable price for lobster (for public transportation, you'd have to take the Silver Line (Airport) to Silver Line Way). Last I knew, some pub-type places in the Faneuil Hall area offered up reasonably-priced twin boiled lobster dinners, as did the Mount Vernon Restaurant (in East Somerville, close by the Sullivan Square stop) and Whiskey's (a pub-grub spot across from the Prudential Center). I'd call first to make sure on these last two.

James Hook is a good place to buy the critters live, if not have a sit-down eating experience.

its been a while since I noticed, but Legal Seafoods used to have an outpost in the airport that would pack to travel. But I don't know if there are issues with carrying them on...are the ice packs considered a gel, and not allowed through security?

you know, if it all seems like too much trouble to get them home, Legal does do mailorder

Yeah, I have ordered online before, but it's much more expensive than carrying them home. At the airport, they've just packed them with some seaweed, no refrigerant, and that's been enough to keep them alive.
