little red lighthouse under GW bridge in NYC

Can anyone tell me where you can park near the little red lighthouse under the GW bridge in NYC. Is there on street parking in that area, or is there somewhere to park near Fort Washington Park. This will be on the weekend. Thanks

I don't know anyone who has driven to the lighthouse, but here is something that might help..and this will top your question for you :)

I would doubt you can park very near the lighthouse, the roads there are all highway (West Side Highway), but you can park in the area and walk down. Will have to check that area next time I am there for more info, I actually live about 20 blocks or so away.

I ride my bike up to the lighthouse quite a bit. There are never many people there because it's not the easiest place to get to.

You have to walk on a footbridge over the Henry Hudson Parkway, then head south and go down a steep hill to get there.

If you were to park on the street, the footbridge is located on Riverside Drive just north of W181st St. I'm not sure how easy it is to find street parking.

Sorry - I have no answer to your wuestion - but thank you so much for bringing to the surface a memory of my childhood - that lighthouse. I know I went there as a child with my grandparents, but don't remember how we got there.

hudsonlights.com You had me so intrigued by the question that I founda website with all the info you need, I think

Thanks for your replys. Unfortunatley I still don't know if I can park around there. Both the web sites given (plus a few others I found) only give directions as to how to get there on the subway. Since I pass right by there on my way into the city it seems foolish to drive down to the more central areas, park and take the subway back up. Due to the rain I'm not going this weekend but next time I do go I guess I'll just drive around the area and see if there's any where to park.

The Cloisters is only about 10 blocks from there and they have a parking lot. Does anyone know if there's a way to walk from there - does Fort Washington Park go up to 190th St?
