Litchfield Help

I've lived in SC all my life and never stayed at Litchfield. We want a 2 or 3 bedroom condo within walking distance to the beach. I can't figure out the website to pick a building. Does anyone have a hint?

Go to Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort.
We are in somerset which is a group of 6 buildings, I think--Fordham,Cambridge,and Hamilton are ocean front--looking out at it at the moment.
There are other buildings up toward Murrell's Inlet--maybe N.Litchfield.
See if this helps you
Paget and Whitney Parrish are also basically ocean front and all have access to pools.

You can't get any more real time than advice from sone one who is vacationing there now.

Our problem is we can't stay a whole week. I'm taking 10 days to go to NY this summer so my time and money will be there. The ones you mentioned say minimum one week stay.

Seaside Inn looks more flexible but it is 1/4 from beach. I'm wondering how doable it is.

Someone did a vRBO last fall or so. You might look there. I don't know what beach they are walking to from Seaside Inn.

I looked at some units for sale, and I really don't quite know where this is--probably up the beach a bit from us. I think they must be the older part of the beach.
I can maybe take a look tomorrow and see what it looks like.

Thanks. If it is not easily walkable. It is not for us.

I may do VRBO but I don't want to make a unrefundable payment this early in the summer. Usually when I deal with a company it is easier to cancel or move a reservation if I need to.

I do want to go to Litchfield after all you and others have said, but if it doesn't work out I've got HHI or Jeckyl as fall backs.

How many people are coming and for how long? Could you do with the Litchfield Inn and everyone have a room. It is right ON the beach and has renovated in recent years.

Well, you learn something new every day!! We have been coming here 16 years at least--and I admit I have a LOT of inertia to just stay in our place and veg. SO we went on our trek to Seaside Inn. I thought it might be at our "north beach" but not there. Finally went to the security gate and asked. It is a large 3 story high rise behind the main real estate/hotel/restaurant area. And another high rise in front of it.
IF it is a quarter mile to the beach it is through a jungle. The end of the building butts up to trees that are the same height as the building. IF there is any possible ocean view (which I doubt) it would be through a slit because of the building in front of it--and then possibly any of the beach high rises.
And maybe most telling, the back units have their balconies screened which tells that if there is a land breeze, the bugs will be rampant.
I am sure you can drive to the beach access--which is lovely just down from our unit.
I wonder if you could search for Litchfield VRBO in Hamilton, Bridgewater, Fordham, etc.

Oh, and for those who wonder about bike paths, plenty here, including along the highway to get to Huntington Beach state park just up the road.
I don't know if the Hampton Inn just across the road has suites (or does the hotel here?).
Hate to see you go to Hilton Head!!
Look at Garden City/Surfside?

I'll look at Litchfield Inn. Since it will be short trip we can make do without a kitchen. Hopefully I can get a reservation that I can cancel if I find a unit through VRBO later in the summer.

I think you have helped me rule out Seaside Inn. If they bring back the Ultimate Foderite contest you have my vote.

It is the bike paths that we are interested in. That is our favorite part of Jekyll. I was also hoping for Brookgreen Gardens.

Yes, HHI is not my favorite either but it is the closest to us and the chain hotels have loyalty programs. I probably don't have enough Marriott points to get a free night this year but the points that I would earn on a vacaction would put me in a good position for the next trip.

Thanks again.

Brookgreen just keeps getting better and better--really. And the Huntington summer home, Atalanta, across the road on the beach is SO interesting. it doesn't take long to see it--and "take it in".
Seaside was a "revelation" to us. Take a look on line for the units for sale.

We found a two bedroom suite at Litchfield Inn. It is ocean front with a screened porch. Some of the photos and stories on Trip Advisor worried me. I'm keeping ther reservations but closer to I will see if anyone on VRBO will break a week for us.

Thanks for your help.

It is just down the beach from us. We stayed there one time for a wedding a good many years ago, and our kids stayed one time. The location just can't be beat. I am pretty sure they have done some renovations, but it is an older property. I think that sounds pretty good, and--it is available!!
