LIRR from JFK to Penn Station

My flight arrives at 11:45 this evening. Does anyone know if the LIRR is shut down between JFK and Penn Station this weekend? Thanks.

Heard this am that they are working on the LIRR again - but they did not give specifics. I would have a look at the website.

The LIRR doesn't run from JFK to Penn. The Airtrain runs from JFK to Jamaica and the LIRR runs from Jamaica to Penn. There will be limited service from Jamaica to Penn on the LIRR, however the subways will still be running from Jamaica to Penn (the E line I think).

I tried going on the Long Island hopstop for you and noticed an "ad" on the left side of the page that said something like "extremely limited LIRR service weekend 11/6-7, click here for more info".

This is the link it brought me to; hope it helps!

Oh, and I wouldn't love taking the E train at midnight. Not unsafe, just loooong time from point A to point B! (hopstop says it's an hour and ten minutes from JFK to Penn, roughly 20 minutes of which are the time on the AirTrain, the rest on the E...)

The railroad schedule indicates 3 trains an hour will be running from Jamaica to Penn Station. I couldnt' ascertain what time they would be and I imagine they may be crowded. The E train runs every 20 minutes. It takes a scheduled 37 minutes to go from Jamaica to 7th Avenue. ( Penn Station) I do not know what hopstop is talking about. Okay--I just put it in hopstop They are including the time necessary to WALK from the airtrain to the E train and from terminals to airtrain etc. etc.

ggreen: Oh heck no, I am not taking the E train at midnight!! Thank you and Elkaz for the info.

Good luck!!!

The problem with taking the E train at midnight is not the length of the trip - but how infrequent the trains are - every 15 to 20 minutes versus every 4/5 at rush hour.

This is just a temporary slowdown right?

I plan on using the LIRR on 11/22 afternoon.
