Bath and Body Works carries a line of Patricia Wexler, MD products which are zinc oxide. I've found small jars and tubes of her zinc oxide sunscreen. They are a little pricier than Neutrogena, around $15 for (I'm guessing, as I don't have any around right now) about 4 oz. I did have a small 1 oz sample tube that was inadvertantly left in my purse that made it through security prior to this newer relazation of rules. |
okay - waaaay to early to post
make that "relaxation" |
I am horribly confused about the
'liquids', most specifically WATER. Can I take WATER on board even if it is MORE than 3 oz. as long as I buy it AFTER I have gone through the security checkpoint? Do I keep my meds in my purse in a ziploc bag, or ask for them to visually inspect them? Do they get damaged if they go through the X-Ray machine? tsa. gov below: We normally X-ray medication and related supplies. However, as a customer service, you may ask that Security Officers visually inspect your medication and associated supplies. * You must ask for visual inspection before the screening process begins; otherwise your medications and supplies will be X-rayed. * If you would like to take advantage of this option, please have your medication and associated supplies separated from your other property in a separate pouch/bag when you approach the Security Officer at the walk-through metal detector. * Ask the Security Officer to visually inspect your medication and hand your medication pouch/bag to him or her. * To prevent your medication, associated supplies or fragile medical materials for contamination or damage, we will ask you to display, handle, and repack your own medication and associated supplies during visual inspection. Any medication and/or associated supplies that we can’t clear visually will be X-rayed. If you refuse, you will not be permitted to carry your medications and related supplies into the sterile area. While we can not provide an exhaustive list of items, below are some of the most common. Please note, if you have questions or doubts on certain items, place those in your checked baggage. We strongly encourage travelers to read our full list of prohibited items to avoid hassle. |
Amy, follow the instructions that you posted. And buy your water after going through security.
|
Once again LoveItaly, thank you for
your assistance and suggestion. :-) |
Amy, you will have to toss your water bottle before going through security. Even empty bottles over 3 oz are not allowed through.
After you're done (your shoes are back on) go to a food stand and buy water. This bottle, no matter the volume, is allowed on-board. Be prepared for a sticker shock. They are not shy to charge you. A small bottle of water at LAX (Los Angeles) $2.69. If you have a layover and need to go through another security, the same scenario: toss the bottle, buy another after security. Medicine: pills stay in your purse. Pills with liquid center go in a ziplock bag. All liquids including shampoo, mascara, go in that same ziplock. Make sure your ziplock is taken out of your carry-on, put it into that plastic container they provide for shoes and purses. |
FainaAgain, my sincerest thanks.
Were you the Fodorite, that awhile back, wrote something about getting swollen ankles if she/he sat down for too long? If so, I had a question for you. Re; Liquids, you made it plain and simple. They should hire YOU at the TSA to give these explanations in more clearer terms, as you did. Thank you again! |
LOL thanks but I don't think TSA would agree :)
Yes, swallen ankles and even knees! Turn out to be high blood pressure. My doc gave me some prescription meds I'm still taking, and now I feel fine. During 22 hours flight to Israel (one way!) no swelling at all. He also advised to wear loose clothing, exercise and drink a lot. Water, not martinis :) If you don't feel like talking on Fodor's where everybody can read, you can e-mail me [email protected] |
As I don't know how to make the tiny URL and don't want to be screamed at...
go to Continental airlines, travel information, during the flight, scroll down to tips for healthy travel, look at those color pictures for exercise! I printed them and been taking along till I've memorized them all. |
You are awesome! Thanks for the email,
will write you by tomorrow, am off to Continental to print out those pictures! LOL Thank you again. I am so grateful! |
Okay, one more time. If I pour Pepto Bismol into an empty bottle that is 3 oz., but is not MARKED 3 oz.
1) Will TSA allow it because the oz. are correct? 2) TSA will NOT allow it because it is not in its original bottle? Thanks in advance |
Why would anyone want their non-liquid medications screened manually if you can have them in your carry on bag and just let them get X-rayed. I don't get it. Is there a method to the madness, or am I misunderstanding??
TSA: If you would like to take advantage of this option, please have your medication and associated supplies separated from your other property in a separate pouch/bag when you approach the Security Officer at the walk-through metal detector. * Ask the Security Officer to visually inspect your medication and hand your medication pouch/bag to him or her. |
