"Lion King" tickets

I would love to take my grandchildren to see "Lion King" in NYC. Are discounted tickets ever offered?

ellenem Oct 21st, 2010 05:57 PM

Not to my knowledge

Lion King and Wicked are still packing the house so you still won't see discounted tickets for either show. If teh seats are filled, then they don't need to offer discount seats.

You night check tkts.org to see what has been discounted recently.

Also check playbill.com and broadwaybox.com for discount codes for some shows.

Hope this helps a little bit.

How would a movie be like a broadway show?

And why come to NYC just to see a movie?

An ad for a website was removed but nytraveler's reaction to the ad has remained. It is not a comment to the OP.

Thank you ellenem -- I had no idea what that was about!

I THINK I've seen them on sale at the TKTS booth (back last winter) but if so it would be unusual. If they really want to see the show, buy tickets ahead of time.

You may want to check to see the list of what was sold the week prior at TKTS for a few weeks to see if they ever pop up -

For some reason, they also removed my comment that discount tickets for The Lion King definitely are not available. So, I repeat the information: You definitely won't find discount tickets for The Lion King.

If you are a larger group - more than 4 - definitely order tickets as soon as you know your dates - since otherwise it might be difficult getting enough tickets all together.

And I have never seen tickets discounted - it seems to be a corporate policy.

But the show will be esp buys that week since there are more than a million NYC kids out of school that week - and parents trying to fid things to do with them - never mind all of the other tourists with the same idea.

The Lion King is an absolutely amazing show! We saw it last Nov. when we were in NYC, staying at The Plaza. I hope you enjoy it! ***kim*** ((*))

We waited in line outside the box office the day of the show for last minute unsold tickets that get returned from various outlets. We paid full price for the $100 seats.

If you decide to go this route, you may need to have your grandkids with you when you purchase the tickets. The ticket agent told us he could only sell us two tickets instead of four because there were only two of us present. I told the man that it was freezing cold (this was in January), and that we were waiting outside for two hours and our children were inside the hotel because of the weather. He was kind enough to make an exception and let us purchase four tickets.

The show was worth the wait in the cold.

This is a very popular show which has broken Minskof theatre records since it opened. I think it would be unlikely for Disney or any company to give you a discount. I personally would be writing this on broadwayworld.com 's blogs

I was at the 1/2 Discount tickets counter tonight for a play

NO DISCOUNT TICKETS FOR 'LION KING AND WICKED.

I don't think Wicked has ever been discounted - definitely not at the TKTS booth.

I know people say that Lion King hasn't either, but I swear I remember standing in the TKTS line in March, on a LONG business call and staring at the board. I can "see" Lion King on there. I noticed because I was surprised.

I may be delusional. In any case, it was midweek, in winter and I 100% agree you can't EXPECT to find the Lion King at TKTS.
