Lincoln Tunnel question
We will be driving into Manhattan in mid August for our first trip to New York. It seems that the quickest way for us to get to our hotel and parking is through the Lincoln Tunnel...Is this usually very busy??? Will it take us awhile to get through???
Thank you. |
a lot depends upon the time of day you travel.
Morning rush hour is always problematic...delays of 45 minutes to an hour are common. Late afternoon/early evening can also be crowded with people going in to NYC for dinner, theater,et. All other times should be OK,unless there's an accident. Good Luck! |
It depends entirely on the time of day, and can also be backed up due to accidents. Your best bet is to listen to the local radio before you set out- but most importantly, just leave a lot of extra time if you have somewhere specific to be.

10-120 minutes
No kidding |
And if you have EZPass available in your car, then you'd cut your travel time, regardless of the time of day, by a whopping 1 minute !

On a recent rainy Saturday I sailed through in 10 minures at approximately 4:30 PM. Depends on time of the day, day of the week for starters...Tune into 880 on the AM dial, traffic & weather on the 8's.(8, 18, 28 etc each hour)

Oh yes, be prepared for an awesome first look at NYC as you approach the tunnel from the west. I have made that trip a gazillion times and the view never ceases to amaze me.
|
This past Monday I sailed through the tunnel at 9:30 am. The next day, I heard on the radio that there was a 60 minute delay.

You have three options - Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel and George Washington Bridge. Tune in 880 AM on the radio when you are about 30 miles from the city and get the traffic report every 8 minutes.
