Limo Tours NYC

Hi

Can anyone give me some information about the limo hire company New York Stories - The Limo Tour. http://www.limotours.com/

My family is planning a trip to NYC this Christmas/new years as a special treat we were wanting to hire a limo for airport transfers and a city tour. These guys quote a very reasonable price. But as we are from Australia we don't want to get ripped off or stranded somewhere if the driver didn't show up.

I have also tried to look for some recommendations about them but cant seem to find any.

Help Please

In my opinion, this is not a good idea. Traffic around the holidays is horrendous and you will be frustrated beyond belief if you get caught up in one or more and end up wasting valuable time during your city touring. Manhattan is easy to cover by walking and public transport (buses and underground subways). Buses may be better if one of your party is mobility impaired.

From the airport, locals including myself, would recommend either a taxi (flat rate from JFK to Manhattan) or a car service, which often use limo-type cars for airport pickups. You can certainly request one if you so desire.

Among the many companies popular with locals is this one, but everyone seems to have a personal favorite.

I use this company for trips to JFk and LGA from my Manhattan home:

IMHO this is a really terrible idea. At that time o fyear the traffic in the city is incredibly bad - walking is faster thatn driving and we even have gridlock alert days (when people are told not to bring cars into the city since the traffic is so heavy it gets tangled at intersections and completely stops). And many of the places you will want to see are in the heaviest traffic zones.

The sensible way to get around is foot for shorter distances or subway for longer ones. Cabs or car services are OK to and from the airport - but not for touring Manhattan.

the largest car services (NOT foofy limos - just full size black sedans) are Carmel and Dial 7. Go to their websites for coupons - and be sure to ask for a vehicle large enough for you and all your luggage. A foofy limo (stretch, uniformed driver, TV and beverages in the back) will probably cost twice as much to/fro he airport.

If you want a stretch limo to get from the airport, then you can certainly do it, but the amount of traffic in NYC over the Christmas holidays makes it such that a "limo tour" is not a good idea.

Unfortunately, I have no direct experience with stretch limos, but both Carmel and Dial7 offer them, and they are both reputable companies. Execucar is another reputable company.

I had a stretch limo once from Carmel (by accident - that's what was available when my plane landed late).

It was truly enormous. You could fit at least 9 people in the back, there was cable TV, satellite radio, a bar with numerous beverages and snacks, etc. I hated it - since it swayed all over the road and I get motion sick. But very luxurious if you don;t mind paying.
