Lilacs

We have gone to Julian to buy lilacs every spring and the place we normally would buy them no longer sells them. Does anyone know if Oak Glen sells them or if there is any mountain town we could find them? Thanks

Am I the only one here who doesn't have a clue what or where Froggy is talking about? I can't even guess a state. Is Julian the name of a florist or a town?

The Julian I know is a mountain town in San Diego County. I know nothing about lilacs though.
You can pick some for free at my house in a couple weeks----But I live in Montana!!

While not exactly in your area, they were selling bunches of fresh lilacs at the Cambria (along the California central coast) farmer's market last weekend.

Good luck in your search!

I guess I'd love to buy some roadside lilacs in April...I'll never find them in Florida. I think after people do a search by state, they think when they post it will somehow show up under California or whatever. There are so many of these inexplicable posts. Perhaps there should be better instructions by Fodor.

Hey, the greatest display of lilacs I've ever seen was at Highland Park in Rochester NY!

I'm also mystified myself re: why people think they're going to get something like this posted on some special state forum if when they arrived at the US forum, it was obvious that all posts for all areas appear together, and that none of them come up with an added "UTAH" notation inserted by Fodors anywhere in the title or the post.

Maybe that's what Fodors could be doing: if someone indicates a particular state, Fodors could put the postal service abbreviation somewhere in the title or post? (But my preference: No, no, please, no more monkeying with the program, please!)

If Fodors was going to tinker with the display of subject, I wold like the name and date of the first poster.

Keith

Okay I'm sorry that I wasn't clear enough on my post. Although I thought I did put it in the California postings. Sorry about the misunderstanding. Julian is a town in Northern San Diego county. I live in Orange County Calfornia. I use to live in Michigan where lilacs bloomed every spring. You can't find them in warmer weather which is why I was trying to find them in an area near Orange County California. It's just a springtime reminder that is pleasant which I think we all need now.

Froggy, after reading your post, I did a google search for lilacs in Julian. I think if you just drive up there, you will find somewhere selling lilac. Even if you don't, it's a great way to spend a day! There may be snow there early next week from a storm coming down from Alaska. The snow level is supposed to be 4,000ft.

Thanks Barbara, I appreciate your help. We'll most likely drive up there and find someone who sells along the road. You're right about it being a beautiful area. I love going up there and always stop at Dudley's for bread.
