Liked Gatlinburg... Now what?

My husband and I spent 4 days in a cottage in Gatlinburg, TN last year. We enjoyed the privacy of the cabin paired with the touristy Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Smokey Mountains area. We're looking to do the same thing this year but were hoping there was another area we could hit this time. Any ideas on areas similar to Gatlinburg where we could go?

Forgot to mention, we're looking to stay in the mid-atlantic area if possible. Cuts our driving time so we have more time to relax! Thanks!

Have you looked into Shenandoah national park in Virginia?

Another vote for Shenandoah.

Do you have a particular town? It's too cold out right now to do a lot of hiking/foliage viewing etc... so we need a cute little mountain town with lot's of tourist traps. ie dinner shows, put-put, ripley's aquarium, etc..

North Carolina High Country: Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, West Jefferson.

I don't think you'll find anything as touristy as Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. :)
