Lightning Fields in New Mexico

Has anyone visited the Lightning Fields in New Mexico? Would love to hear a report of your experience. We're thinking of reserving a night this summer.

is this place so obscure that not a single fodorite has visited there? Surely someone has made this overnight trip in New Mexico.

pcw,

we thought it looked cool too when we visited NM this past March, but just didn't have time to fit it in.

I can tell you that part of NM, west of I-25 was beautiful.

I read an article about it. It seems you need to meet a caretaker who drives you into the site or something. It does sound quite intriguing--altho I don't know how often there are storms.

yes, I have all the details on how to reserve a night. It is rather expensive so I'm wondering if anyone out there has actually done this. Is it worth the money? I think it looks like a unique experience whether there's storms or not.
