Liberal age policy on admissions to live taping?
Hi, Can anyone please tell me from experience whether or not we should have trouble getting my well behaved 10 year old into a live taping of Reba ( he looks 10)? The age limit is 14. There are six of us in the party and everyone else is the appropriate age? Please share experiences.
Thanks Ken |
They're pretty strict. They hand out more tickets than they have seats for, and people are turned away. So other people in line will probably point him out and say "that kid better not be admitted, he doesn't look anywhere near 14!"

joesorce, do you think getting there very early might help. Maybe, once he is already in, they won't bother him?
Thanks Ken |
They ususally walk down the line checking people out before they start letting you in. He most probably won't make it in the door. It is an insurance thing.

I'm sorry, but please explain why you refuse to accept that a very clearly stately policy may not be followed, just for you? You are certainly welcome to try to circumvent this, but assuming you don't want to tell the kid to wait for you outside all by himself, you need to make other plans.
In addition to the insurance issue, many younger children, every one of whose parents would attest that they are "well behaved", might have problems sitting through the taping without getting bored or restless. Reba is great and I'd love to see her myself, but please respect the stated conditions and make other arrangements for the child if the rest of you decide to go. |
Please also understand that this is not a personal attack against you. I have a problem with people everywhere who refuse to accept rules or conditions which are clearly stated. I also have just as much of a problem with people who try to enforce "rules" which are unwritten or unstated. You know, all the "you can't do that" stuff, because "you can't".

Thanks guys and gals based on the responses I will make alternative plans with my ten year old while the others enjoy the show. By the way, if anyone knows the area, what else is nearby for me and him?
Thanks Ken |
Parking is at Macy's and you are close to a big shopping mall and restaurants in Century City. There is a movie theatre complex. The show is at 6pm which probably means you have to be in line at 3:30 or 4:00 and don't exit until anywhere between 7:30 and 9:00pm. You could have dinner in this stretch, but the showgoers will be hungry later after the show.
The show exit times vary greatly, so hopefully you have cell phones to hook-up with each other later at Macy's. Another idea might be the Petersen Auto Museum which isn't too much of a drive. Very cool if he's into cars and stars. |
Great ideas! Thanks Tracys2

Based on my personal experiences, what the others have said is correct. If the show doesn't catch him, someone else will point him out.

Definately take him the the Petersen Automotive Museum--great idea! The Natural History Museum is across the street so you can also go there if time permits.
