LGA to Tarrytown House Estates, NY
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what would be the best way of getting to Tarrytown from LGA? I'm thinking of a shuttle or car service. Which one would be cheaper and what are some companies I can contact?
Thanks!

A private car service will be expensive ... probably something over $150. Obviously, a shared van will be cheaper. There are companies that specialize in airport service to Westchester County, but I don't know any companies to recommend and can't tell you the cost.
The other option available to you is to take a regular taxi to the 125th Street Metro North stop (about $35) and then jump on a Metro North train to Tarrytown. That costs about $13 (just remember you have to buy the ticket from a machine before boarding ... on board it's significantly more expensive). Then I guess a taxi from the station to your ultimate destination. I have no idea if this would be cheaper than a shared van service. I suspect it would be about the same cost (roughly $50).

Following up on Doug's advice, the cost of the train from 125th Street to Tarrytown would be $9.75 off-peak (any time except 4-8 p.m.) and $13 during those four peak hours. The cab in Tarrytown would probably be less than $10. So, his estimate of roughly $50 is on target.
PS: There is usually at least 3 trains an hour to Tarrytown from 125th Street, so you should never have to wait too long there.
