Letterman Rules

Does anyone know how strict they are with the "must be 18 rule" to get into the Dave Letterman show. We will be going to NYC in early January and already have tickets but our youngest son will only be 17. Do they actually check everyone's ID. If the kid is close will the let him in with his parents? Both are son's are so looking forward to it - I hope we can get in (especially since we've already secured tkts).

They checked IDs at least of two kids when we were ther in October. Call them and ask whether they are willing to break rules for you. But they have this requirements because of insurance,

Perhaps you can buy your son a fake ID. I'm sure someone at his school can arrange this.

I don't recall having IDs checked, but then DH and I are way beyond 17.

They are pretty strict. Can your son do something with another family member while you all go see Letterman? Once you are seated, you are out in an hour.

Somehow they make exceptions. In the last year I have seen David talk to someone in the audience who was under 18, at least once.

Keith, maybe a family member of a show employee? They have been strict about this the last few times I've either gone to Letterman or walked by while they were handing out tickets.
