letterman & Phantom in same day?
We are in NYC for a short time.
We have tickets to Letterman for the 4:30 show. Is it possible to also attend the 8:00 pm performance of Phantom of the Opera in the same day if we purchase our tickets ahead? How long is the Letterman show? |
I've never attended a Letterman taping but the show runs on air for an hour so can't imagine you'd be there for more than 2 max. That leaves plenty of time to make Phantom at 8 and eat in between. They're right near each other too. Angelo's pizza has opened in the Ed Sullivan theater. Good! ;)

Can't answer your question, but my husband went to taping and reports it was freeezing in the studio - below 60 degrees. He was told that is a Letterman thing - and if my husband was cold it was really cold since he has antifreeze in his veins. You are not allowed to wear your coat in audience, but a sweater, indoor jacket, etc. is OK. Plan accordingly.

It is too much for one night. You'd basically be tied up from about 3PM until 11:30PM that night.
Even though Letterman is only an hour, you still have to dick around with getting in the studio and instructions. Logistically yes, you can do this. Would I? No. It is too much. |
Meant to add, you have to go stand in line at Letterman for tickets, then given instructions, sent away for an hour, then you come back to stand in line again.

Thanks for all the advice.
If you have your tickets ahead of time-through ticketmaster for Phantom-what is the line like to get into the Majestic Theater? |
I usually agree with GoTravel but not sure in this case. If you're at the Phantom theater by 7:40 for an 8 pm show that's plenty of time. I was mistaken about their proximity though. The 2 theaters are about 10 blocks apart (Letterman on 53-54 st, the Majestic on 44 st) which would be a 10-15 minute walk.

If you are an active person, I would recommend to go for it. I went to Letterman and regretted not having tickets for theater. We were left with less to do for the rest of the evening. We stood around for tickets, but between our waiting we went to Seinfeld's soup Nazi for a late lunch. If it is still there, it is right around the corner.

We were just in NY last week-had a great time. We saw the 4:30 Letterman Show..got out at exactly 5:30. We would loved to have had tickets for a show that night-it wouldn't have been a problem at all. I think you should go for it-you have plenty of time and you are only in NY for a short time.

Yeah, easily.
