Lets talk Sausalito...yummy but reasonable places to eat?
We'll likely end up in Sausalito one evening (a Sunday) of our SF/Monterey trip and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good places to eat that won't break the bank (under $20 per person) for family with two teenagers, one of which is vegetarian.
We'll be doing Japantown and Chinatown earlier in the trip, so we'll have had our fill of Asian style food I think, but we enjoy just about anything else...we just need to make sure there are some non-meat options wherever we go.
View would be great. Music even better.
Any and all thoughts are appreciated. We'll have a car that day and hope to hit Stinson Beach for sunset later on.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten any responses. This post caught my eye when you posted it because we "discovered" Sausalito when we crossed the GGB 2 years ago on our last night before catching our plane and loved it. We were only in SF for a few hours. Anyway, we had dinner in Sausalito at a cute little Italian place called CAFE TUTTI. It was near a marina. You might be looking for something fancier, so hopefully someone else will jump in with this back to the top!

Consider ending up in Tiburon
instead-less tourisy and more charming than Sausalito,IMHO.
A fun place right on the water-looking back at SF and Angel Island-
that should meet your budget is Sam's Anchor Cafe
www.samscafe.com
Not fancy, good food, something for everyone.
On the same street is Guaymas which is a good-sort of fancy Mexican restaurant-they should have a menu posted so you check prices. Also a great looking at the city view.
Be advised that Hwy 1 from Mill Valley down into Stinson is a 2- lane very windy road that may not be your cup of tea in the dark-and possibly in the fog-just after sunset.

Thanks for the ideas....all of which sound interesting.
Thats one amazing list of Tequilas at Guaymas! And Sam's looks charming. Will also check out Cafe Tutti.
Hadn't thought about the road from Stinson Beach being an issue. Thanks for the heads up. We may re-think the sunset on the beach idea.
Anyone have any other suggestions for dinner in Sausalito or Tiburon?

Last Sept we ended up eating at the Sausalito Taco shop after biking across the GG. I love baja fish tacos and don't get them in New England. The place is tiny, further down the road past the ferry dock on the left. It has a little deck. Food was good and lunch atmosphere was nice. Nothing fancy, but we liked it and would go back.

We really liked the Marin Headlands (not sure that is really what you call it) that is right across the GGB on the left as you cross (Sausalito is to the right) for sunset. We stopped and got pictures in daylight, drove down toward the beach and lighthouse there and around by the old Missile Site from the 60's and back to see San Francisco as the lights came on.
