I posted a message a while back on restaurants in Houston. Husband and I will be staying at a Marriott in the Galleria area on Friday. We like Italian, American, Mexican. I would rather go someplace where they wait on you but nothing too fancy. Looking for a place with casual dress because we will be headed to the Toyota Center after that for a concert. My mom really liked Taco Milagro. Would that be on the way to Toyota Center. Any ideas are welcome, aside from run of the mill chains.

I think so!

My husband loves Willie G's for fish. There is also a small Italian restaurant that he enjoys but he can't think of the name at the moment. He'll check at the office tomorrow and I'll pass it along to you. Have a good night

A few months ago we ate at a great place right across from the Galleria called Canyon Cafe. Check out Houston City Search for reviews and directions. Both the food and atmosphere were great.

For Italian, try Little Napoli.

Taco Milagro is eastbound on Westheimer from the Galleria. Also could try Chuy's (tex-mex) on San Felipe. For Italian in the Galleria area, try Grotto or Arcodoro.

Crappito's at 2400 Midlane, 713-961-1161. About 3 min. by cab from where you'll be, right off Westheimer in the direction going towards downtown where Toyota center is. One of the 5 best restaurants in Houston. Frank, the owner, greets people and goes around the dining room making sure everyone is happy- he's a great guy. Food is amazing and fresh. Wine list great, good bar. Very friendly and you can go there before Toyota Canter, no problem. Very comfortable.
Read reviews at http://www.national.citysearch.com/review/
Put in Crapitto's and Houston in the search boxes. Rave reviews.
We LOVE this place and go there everytime we go to visit my friends an dfamily in Houston.

Sorrento is about 10 minutes away (the other way) on Richmond at Chimney Rock. Toyota Center has a good restaurant for buffet before the game. Chuy's is fun, but will be very crowded.

What time is your concert? I am guessing 8. You may want to eat downtown to minimuze the risk of being late.

Thanks everyone. I have been to Willie G's before and I remember they had good food. I am in my first trimester of pregnancy so I sometimes have to wait to see what I can eat. The reason I am now asking about restaurants on Westheimer is because we decided to book a room at the Galleria rather than staying with family in Clear Lake. It seems like there are so many more dining options there vs. eating downtown. The concert begins at 7:30 ( there is an opening act) so we plan to be at a restaurant by 5:00 or 5:30.

CB, I am glad to hear good things about Americas. We went to Churasco's (same owners) several years ago and I thought the food was awesome.
