I love snow, so why do I live in Austin TX? Hmmmmmm :-?
Oh yeah, now I remember. When I was growing up in Northern OK, I hated cold weather and I wanted to live futher south.
I guess we always want what we don't have.
To our friends in Buffalo, I wish I could blow some heat up to you. Be careful in that weather.

I am so very sad about Buffalo and the gorgeous trees that will be lost as a result of this storm. And my heart goes out to everyone there without power. I was happy that a dear friend of mine could use my house in Chautauqua as shelter from the storm, since we are safe and warm in California.

Hi SuzieTrue....we were all set and ready to head to your DS's neck of the woods........when we saw the weather report! We had spent the night in Munising and had planned to head up the morning of the snow prediction.
However, we did let the threat of a foot of snow scare us south into Wisconsin. All the way to Racine for some wonderful Kringles.
Thanks for thinking of us.

Thanks LoveItaly and PM!
Cabo, how nice of you to loan your house. Yes, the beautiful trees are all damaged or gone completely. Now they're saying a couple hundred thousand trees are lost and damaged. It's a shame.
The good news is that trees grow back, power lines can be repaired, and with the exception of 3 deaths related to the storm, people are safe and neighbors are taking care of each other (like cabo)!

iceeu2,
Glad to here you changed your plans. Of course living in MI makes you very flexible. Just got back from a week-end visit to Cleveland. It turned out ot be very nice weather. The temps were only in the 50's but lots of sun. DD may have found "her college". It doesn't hurt that she can get $13,000 in scholarship money due to good grades.

SuzieTrue, congrats to you and your DD! How proud you must be of her.
You Michiganders did it again! Made us feel so welcomed. We had a magnificent vacation and caught lots of salmon. That was some fun fishing.
The weather was beautiful until the snow day! The colors of the leaves were just outstanding. I will post a few pics as soon as I can.
Oh, and, btw, I think the name of the place your inlaws may get smoked fish dip in Charlevoix is John Cross Fisheries. That's where the guy at the grocery store directed us and oh, for yumo! Plus, we got some great smoked salmon there.

SuzieTrue - I want to congrat your daughter. My 22 yr.old has had many opportunities due to her scholarships at UN - L (Lincoln, NE) and now is in Georgia due to her accomplichments). You really need to realize what all will be available to her. My son is a freshman in college - going to a Minn. school, but his best friend is from Michigan - near Wisc. We are hoping he will head to St. Cloud, MN to school, in Jan, also. WE love to travel, BUT, even in our 50's we love WINTER. Since the empty nest, we are looking to skiing (We are from S.D. so appreciate the Black Hills and the short distance to Colo.) but also appreciate just plain snow fall - just like many appreciate the beach. Good luck to your youngster in college. What a great time in our life. LIFE IS GOOD
