Will be traveling to Hawaii in 3 weeks. Have done all arrangements on own. Was wondering if anyone out there has any info on lei greetings. I am wondering if I should book one on my own. Is it worth it. Know of any good contacts for this service. Thanks Cheryl

I do not know of a service for the flower lei greeting, but if you want a flower lei, there are shops all over that sell them. They are priced on the size and type of flower. <BR> <BR>Receiving a flower lei greeting means more from someone you know than from a tour service.

Hello, we are going to Oahu in June. I booked the lei greeting with hotel transportation from our travel agent. <BR>they are available at the airports. you should check out the gohawaii.com web site. Must be something on it. If you don't book one in advance, you will have to buy one in the airport. If booked in advance, a greeter will be on hand to present it to you when you get off the plane.

You can't be serious about wanting a lei greeting. It's just some stranger greeting you with a lei as you get off the plane! How much is a lei greeting? Do I think it's worth it? NO! I always thought that the lei greeting was the biggest scame by tour operators. I suggest that you and your travelling companion(s) buy leis (you can pick up some really pretty, unusual ones in lei stands throughout the city, but especially in Chinatown) and present the to each other with a kiss. That would have more meaning than some stranger giving you a cheap, $3 lei.

I don't wish to sound overly cynical or jaded, but a lei greeting is a colossal waste of money in my book. It's simply a hired gopher-person walking up and giving you flowers and it's been a huge travel agency/package scam for decades. Not that it's tremendously expensive. It's the principle, to me. <BR>But, to each his own. There are people who buy velvet Elvis paintings and snow globes of Niagara Falls and goofy bumper stickers.....so why not contrived lei ceremonies.

One of the greatest disapointments of my trip to Hawaii was the lei greeting. We got off the plane, this lady walked up to us, thrust 2 leis in our hands and said "Here". What a bummer! I don't know who arranged for it.

to all thanks for all your imput. I talked it over with my family and we all decided to buy our own lei if we choose once we get there. I received a lei greeting from family when I was younger and it was a wonderful experience, I guess I never gave it a thought that this time around it would be strangers. Our greeting was at the Oahu airport. Our destination that day was Stouffers on Kauai. When we arrived at the hotel we were given a wonderful lei greeting. It helped make up for the one we got at the airport!

Don't be discouraged! We think lei greetings are wonderful! We are going to Honolulu this weekend and have arranged for our son & daughter to be lei'd at the airport!! It adds to the whole experience of going to Hawaii!!

Just got back from a trip to Maui, was expecting a lei at our arrival but it didn't happen. I was disappointed but I found out later that you had to pre-arrange it. hmm that's not for me...we did buy our leis that were hand made in front of us. we presented our leis to one another with a kiss.
