Legoland Florida Opens 10/15

http://florida.legoland.com/

Florida's newest theme park opens on Oct. 15, and it will also be the largest Legoland in the world, apparently. I have friends and relatives who live in Winter Haven, where the park is located, and am therefore anxious to see it succeed, but what about you all? Is anyone planning a visit, or interested in doing so? Just curious... my impression has always been that Europeans are more into Legoland than Americans are, but I could be wrong!

Yes, it's nice that Legoland preserved the gardens and kept the water ski show, too. I think the Southern Belles are gone, though, lol!

I read a case study on Lego recently. It's popularity would surge with the release of hary potter or star wars movies (because of the harry potter/star wars lego playsets released simoultaneously), but would drop thereafter. Lego has been making a comeback through their video games for next gen consoles and other strategic moves. I've never been to a Legoland before, but imagine I'd have just as much fun there as I would at Disney or some other theme park.

What Bluegreen overlooks is that Legos totally reinvented itself for this generation of gamers--by making the Star Wars, et al types of themes a number of years ago. My grands LOVE Legos--as their parents did in a VERY simpler time.
DGS had his birthday party at a LEGO store where his guests built Lego robots and then had a "fight" in the Lego pit. It was TRES cool!!

on another note, my aunt and uncle had a home in Lakeland, and their daughters were water skiers in the Cypress Gardens show of the 40's!! They weren't professionals--just pretty girls from the neighborhood!!

I've been to Legoland in the UK several times as we used to live about an hour away.

My take is that it's a great place for young kids and mine enjoyed going up to age 11.
It is aimed at 3-12 yr olds and those at the extreme ends of this age range don't get as much out of it as the rest.

It doesn't have big 'thrill' rides.

As this new one is going to be the biggest I wonder what extras there will be.
