what age group is this for?
It seems to be for little kids.
what else is there to do except the rides?

I think Legoland works best for kids under 12. The rides are not as extreme as some parks. Like Disney and Busch Legoland does a good job decorating and accenting the park, so many of the rides are visually fulfilling, unlike a King's Dominion, for instance.

Besides rides there are shows (live and filmed) and areas where you can build and test certain types of legos. There is also an extensive area of scenery (cities, landmarks, villages etc.) built of legos. It is automated and really pretty amazing.

My oldest boy is 8 and he and his friends still love Legoland. In recent years the parks have added more "adult" or older kid rides, but I don't think they compare to some of the other parks.

Which Legoland are you specifically interested in?

Hi Melissa, my grandson went to Legoland with his buddy and his friends mother the summer the boys were 13. The trip was wonderful but my grandson told me afterwards they were a bit bored with Legoland so probably sprin2 is correct..a good place to take children who are under the age of 12.

I am interestered in CA. If I took my son who is 11, is there any other amusements parks in the area?

Just an FYI: There's only one Legoland in the US, in Carlsbad. The others are in London, Billund (Denmark) and Günzburg (Germany).

In San Diego (30 minutes south or Carlsbad), there's always SeaWorld (the original!). In Anaheim (90 minutes north of Carlsbad), there's Disneyland (the original!). In Buena Park (also 90 minutes north of Carlsbad), there's Knott's Berry Farm (well, the only, last I checked).

I took my kids to Legoland when they were 10 & 7. They enjoyed the park, but they are Lego freaks. I agree that it is for the 12 & younger set. My husband and I were bored. The rides are not of the Disney caliber and are pretty tame.

If your 11 year old is really into Legos and would enjoy the above mentioned displays (which are fantastic) then I would take a chance. If you are going mainly for the rides, skip it.
