leaving in 9 days for maui!!!

Leaving so soon. I can hardly stand the wait. Here are our plans --

Activities:
Sunrise at Haleakala then the Pony Express ride into the crater
Kayak trip with Maui Kayaks
Road to Hana
Hiking in West Maui
As much Snorkeling as we can

Restaurants:
Sarentos and/or Pacific'O (in leiu of a luau)
Cheesburger in Paradise
Sansei

We'll be there for 10 days and are renting a convertible. We're staying at Noelani Condo Resort.

Any comments/suggestions would be great.

Aloha!

Don't miss the Helipcopter tour! Blue Hawaii is the company we went with. This is a chance of a lifetime!!

Suggest a whalewatch from Lahaina, if you haven't been on one and likewise Dinner at Mama's Fish House. Enjoy your stay in ((R))paradise((R)), you lucky((&))((&)):S-

You must go see the Iao Valley! So pretty... When we went we stopped at the Kahului swap meet on the way. Lots of locals with booths selling everything from flowers to clothes to musical instruments. Only there on Saturdays and Thursdays, I believe. If you ever plan on going to Kauai, save your helicopter trip for that island. I've never been to Maui during "whale season" so I do think watching them would be fun. If you don't want to take a boat in the rough winter waters, there may be some places you can see them from shore.

Another vote for Mama's fish house.

Also, if you haven't picked it up, Maui Revealed is a great guidebook and was very useful on the road to Hana. Blue Pool is a must!

We love Roys and Nicolina's (also owned by Roys and next door) it is very close to where you will be staying. It does not have a view, but you will have a great ocean view from your condo. We love to have a dinner of appetizers and desserts there. Especially love the hot choc cake there. Also, it's fun to watch the cliff divers at sunset with a drink in hand at the Sheraton on Kannapali.

Have stayed at Noelani twice & liked it a lot. Only suggestion I'd offer is to RELAX. It's not necessary to be in a state of perpetual motion ! Many of our plans on trips just seemed to evaporate after the first day or so :) On our last trip three months ago we finally drove up to the top of Haleakala, except we arrived about noon, still lots to see & on the way back we detoured around to Keokea & the winery, fantastic views & a whole different world. Have a great trip.

Have fun! We just booked our flights yesterday for July. Make sure you give a detailed report when you return! :)
