Hi, Makia1 !
Check out www.linnsfruitbin.com/faq.mtml
for a short history and description of the olallieberry.
It is an Indian word for "blackberry". I love the word! Love the berry even more! A lot of places along the coast have olallieberry pie, wine, and so on.
If you have a chance, eat or get anything with olallieberry in it!
Enjoy!

Jason,
Thank you for the explanation of the origin of "ollalieberry"...even after all my time spent in Santa Cruz, I was never quite sure what it was or how it was different from a blackberry, despite its frequent appearance in my muffins. Why have I never seen it outside of that area?

Hi, turn_it_on!
Dunno why, mebbe because the berry is manmade and only 50-some years old, instead of naturally occurring in the wild for several thousand years. Give it time, maybe it'll spread further.
makai1: You seem to be a fun kind of person, so here's a blonde travel joke for you (no offense meant!)
A blonde calls up her travel agent and wants to know: "How long does it take to fly between San Francisco and New York?"
The travel agent hesitated and said,"Just a minute..."
"Thank you" said the blonde and hung up.
